UC Davis is a major research university located near Sacramento in California. The post-doctoral associate will work with and will be mentored by Dr. Hans-Georg Müller in the Department of Statistics.

Duties and Responsibilities

The postdoctoral research associate will conduct research within the framework of several research teams and will participate in (a) publishing and presenting research results at national and international workshops (b) developing software (c) various small administrative tasks and graduate student mentoring. There is no teaching requirement but there may be options for participating in the teaching program of the department if desired.
The research will involve:
(1) Developing new methodology, theory, algorithms and applications for metric statistics
and random objects (samples of complex data located in metric spaces, such as distributions, networks, trees, covariance matrices, data on Riemannian manifolds, functional data and high-dimensional data) with an emphasis on inference and utilizing ML/AI tools.
(2) Analyzing data generated in longitudinal and cross-sectional studies related to child development that include brain imaging and various other complex measurements, applying both classical and modern methodology, and writing reports, sometimes with tight deadlines.

Position Qualifications

Doctorate in Statistics or related field;
Proficiency with Python and R;
Experience in applying empirical process theory and deep learning.

Salary Range$69,073 - $74,281 (for 25-26)
