The Department of Epidemiology and Public Health (EPH) at the University of Maryland School of Medicine is recruiting a full-time, tenure track/tenure Associate Professor or Professor with specialization in clinical trial epidemiology. Applicants must have a doctoral degree (PhD, MD/PhD/MS) or equivalent in epidemiology, biostatistics, or a related area. The Department of Epidemiology and Public Health is home to strong and innovative research programs in biostatistics and bioinformatics, gerontology and aging, cancer epidemiology, genomic and infectious disease epidemiology, maternal and child health, preventive medicine, and population health. EPH has a had a long and successful tradition of leading important clinical trials funded by federal agencies, private foundations, and industry sponsors. Given the increasing demand for clinical trials expertise, (design, coordination and management of clinical trials) in the School of Medicine, we are seeking to hire a seasoned clinical trial epidemiologist with strong research and funding portfolios to lead EPH’s Data Coordinating Center and a group of trialists, biostatisticians, and data analysts.
Duties and Responsibilities
Responsibilities will include overseeing clinical trials and data coordinating center activities on multiple studies; planning and executing clinical trials and other types of research studies; reporting finding and relevant information to sponsors, the medical field, and the general public; working with School of Medicine faculty to design trials of promising interventions and serve as leader or member of data coordinating center; and actively seeking extramural funding for data coordinating centers.
Position Qualifications
The successful candidate will have experience in epidemiologic study design and quantitative analyses and will have demonstrated the ability to establish an independent research program or data coordinating center and develop collaborative research. Experience working in and managing a data coordinating center and seeking extramural support for coordinating centers are essential. There also are opportunities to participate in teaching programs, including student mentoring and course leadership, for graduate and medical students.
Salary Range157,000 – $391,294
