Duties and Responsibilities
The CANR Statistical Consulting Center (SCC) is seeking a motivated and analytical Statistical Consultant to provide statistical support and guidance to faculty, graduate students, and technicians within the College of Agriculture and Natural Resources (CANR) and MSU AgBioResearch.
The SCC offers statistical consulting services free of charge to support research design, data analysis, interpretation of results, and presentation of findings across a wide range of agricultural, environmental, biological, and social science research projects.
Key Responsibilities
-Provide one-on-one statistical consulting to researchers and graduate students
-Assist with experimental design, sampling strategies, and data management
-Conduct and interpret statistical analyses using appropriate methods
-Support researchers in preparing results for publications, presentations, and grant proposals
-Develop clear written and verbal explanations of statistical findings
-Assist in selecting and using statistical software and analytical tools
-Contribute to educational workshops or training sessions related to statistical methods
Position Qualifications
Required Qualifications
-Master’s degree or Ph.D. in Statistics, Biostatistics, Data Science, or a related quantitative field
-Strong knowledge of statistical modeling, experimental design, and hypothesis testing
-Experience using statistical software such as R, SAS, SPSS, Python, or similar platforms
-Excellent communication and interpersonal skills
-Ability to explain statistical concepts to individuals with varying levels of statistical knowledge
-Strong organizational and problem-solving abilities
Preferred Qualifications
-Experience working in agricultural, biological, environmental, or natural resource research
-Prior consulting or collaborative research experience
-Experience with mixed models, multivariate analysis, or longitudinal data analysis
Salary Range66,500-75,000
