Duties and Responsibilities
Key Responsibilities
The candidate is expected to teach a variety of undergraduate and graduate statistics, data science, or mathematics courses in the Department of Mathematics and Statistics, to maintain a program of scholarly activity, and to work on curriculum and program development.
The candidate is expected to supervise graduate students on their research projects in both the department’s MS Statistics program and the College of Science’s MS Data Science program.
The candidate is also expected to supervise student teams working on industrial research projects in the department’s Center for Applied Math, Computation, and Statistics (CAMCOS) program.
The candidate will participate in shared governance, usually in department, college, and university committees and other service assignments.
The candidate is expected to maintain a focused and impactful research agenda with peer-reviewed publications in reputable venues.
Faculty shall organize all their classes within the Canvas Learning Management System (LMS).
The candidate must demonstrate awareness and experience in understanding the needs of a student population of great diversity – in age, abilities, cultural background, ethnicity, religion, economic background, primary language, sexual orientation, gender identity, and academic preparation – through inclusive course materials, teaching strategies, and advisement.

Required Qualifications
Doctoral degree in Statistics, Data Science or a closely related field completed by July 2027.
Applicants should demonstrate an awareness of and sensitivity to the educational goals of a socially and economically diverse student population as might have been gained in cross-cultural study, training, teaching, and other comparable experience.
A record of ongoing research and a well-developed agenda for future research.
Experience or demonstrated potential for effective teaching at the undergraduate and graduate level.
Preferred Qualifications
Priority will be given to candidates who possess one or more of the following:
Evidence of effective service to their department, university, or profession commensurate with their experience.
Experience or interest in mentoring undergraduate and/or graduate student research.
Salary Range$104,500 - $135,000
