The Department of Business Analytics in the Tippie College of Business has been at the forefront of research in Analytics for decades and, as a recent recipient of the INFORMS UPS George D. Smith Prize, is honored to be a top department in the world for preparing students for careers in analytics. The department has research strengths in predictive analytics in the areas of health care, social issues, text, and social media, and faculty members have developed key methodologies in data mining, social-network analysis and mathematical optimization. The department is also internationally known for work in supply-chain design, transportation, and operations management.
The Department of Business Analytics offers a BBA in Business Analytics and Information Systems, an MS in Business Analytics (both part-time and full-time programs, with the part-time master’s program ranked #5 in the nation by Fortune), as well as the PhD degree. Through its Tippie Analytics Cooperative, the department is actively engaged with local, national, and Fortune 500 companies to continually enhance and improve student learning.
Duties and Responsibilities
The award-winning Department of Business Analytics within the Tippie College of Business at the University of Iowa invites applications for one or more Tenured/Tenure-Track Faculty Position(s) at the level of Assistant, Associate, or Full Professor starting Fall 2027. Rank will be based on experience and record of achievement. Salary will be commensurate with qualifications. Position(s) are 100% time with benefits.
We are excited to consider faculty with expertise in a broad range of fields, including Business Analytics, Applied Mathematics, Computer Science, Artificial Intelligence, Industrial Engineering, Informatics/Information Sciences, Logistics, Management Science, Operations Management/Supply Chain, Statistics, or any related field. While the department is particularly open to exceptional scholars across these domains, we are especially interested in candidates whose work focuses on data science and/or supply chain management. The successful candidate(s) will contribute to vibrant and growing programs at the graduate and undergraduate levels.
Position Qualifications
Education Requirement:
An earned doctorate in Applied Mathematics, Business Analytics, Computer Science, Industrial Engineering, Informatics/Information Sciences, Logistics, Management Science, Operations Management/Supply Chain, Statistics, or any related field or strong evidence that the doctoral degree will be completed before August 18, 2027.
Required Qualifications:
For candidates at the Associate or Full ranks, a record of publishing significant research in top-tier journals and/or conference proceedings consistent with tenure and promotion at the Associate or Full rank, and evidence of continuing research productivity;
For candidates at the Assistant Professor level, demonstrated potential to publish research in top-tier journals or evidence of continuing research productivity.
Evidence of successful teaching experience at the undergraduate or graduate level in any area of business analytics, information systems, data science, or supply chain management.
Desirable Qualifications:
Demonstrated potential (for the assistant professor rank) or demonstrated leadership and impact (for the associate/full professor rank) in their area of research expertise.
Demonstrated success in teaching.
Evidence of interdisciplinary research collaboration.
Demonstrated success in working with doctoral students (for the associate/full professor rank).
