Established in 1987, the NCI Cancer Prevention Fellowship Program (CPFP) supports postdoctoral fellows from diverse fields for up to four years of mentored research and career development, including a Master of Public Health (MPH) degree for those without prior public health training. The program accepts U.S. citizens, permanent residents, and eligible international applicants from low- and middle-income countries (LMICs). Duties and Responsibilities
1, Launch an independent research program with support from NCI investigators
2. Increase performance through fellowship coaching and training
3, Join a cohort of postdoc collaborators with diverse scientific expertise
4, Receive a competitive stipend with health insurance and travel benefits
Position Qualifications
1, Must have a Ph.D., M.D., or other doctoral degree in a related discipline (e.g., basic science, epidemiology, health services research, medicine, behavioral science, nursing, social science, nutrition, health education/health promotion, law, dentistry, statistics, geography, exercise science, or engineering) or expect to complete all degree requirements by the start of the CPFP
2. Must have less than 5 years of relevant postdoctoral experience at the time of appointment
3. Must either
be a citizen or permanent resident of the United States at the time you apply (The I-551 stamp in a passport is acceptable; "Employment Authorization" documents are not acceptable.);
or be a citizen of a World Bank classified (https://datahelpdesk.worldbank.org/knowledgebase/articles/906519-world-bank-country-and-lending-groups) low- or lower-middle-income country (LMIC), which additionally requires that you demonstrate English language proficiency and explain in your personal statement how you will pursue a career in cancer prevention in your home country upon completion of the fellowship.
