Duties and Responsibilities

A postdoctoral position is available through a joint appointment in the Division of Quantitative Sciences at the Sidney Kimmel Comprehensive Cancer Center and Department of Biostatistics at Johns Hopkins University. The postdoc will be jointly mentored by Dr. Zheyu Wang and Dr. Brian Caffo. Both mentors also hold joint appointments in the Whiting School of Engineering and are faculty members in the Johns Hopkins Data Science and AI Institute, providing a vibrant, interdisciplinary environment that accelerates innovation at the interface of data science, artificial intelligence, and real-world impact.

We are seeking highly motivated individuals to develop, implement, and apply novel statistical methods, and to integrate machine learning and AI approaches in a rigorous, interpretable, and data-driven framework for biomarker evaluation, disease progression modeling, and risk prediction. A major focus will be on neuroimaging and other Alzheimer’s disease biomarkers, with the overarching goal of improving early and individualized prediction, and deepening understanding of disease mechanisms and heterogeneity. This position offers a rich opportunity to contribute to both methodological innovation and high-impact collaborative research in neurodegenerative disease, within a multidisciplinary setting spanning multiple departments and centers.

Position Qualifications

Candidates should have a strong quantitative background with a doctorate in biostatistics, statistics, computer science or a related discipline. Strong programming skills, ideally in R or Python, are required. The ideal candidate will have a strong track record in coding, statistical or machine learning analysis, and methodological development. Experience in medical diagnostic studies and neuroimaging is desirable, but not required.

Salary RangeCompetitive and depends on research experience.
