The Department of Genome Sciences at the University of Virginia (UVA) invites applications for a Biostatistician. This position will focus on managing large datasets, developing and applying statistical methods, machine learning approaches, and AI-driven computational tools. The Biostatistician will work under the supervision of Dr. Ziqiao Wang and there will be opportunities to collaborate with the Department of Data Science, Department of Statistics, and UVA Comprehensive Cancer Center. Duties and Responsibilities
Perform data analyses using statistical software (e.g., R, Python)
Manage large-scale datasets (including genetics, omics, clinical characteristics
Contribute to manuscript preparation
Position Qualifications
Education: Master's degree in Biostatistics, Statistics, Computer Science, Data Science, Bioinformatics, or a related quantitative field
Preferred Qualifications
At least 1 year of data analysis experience in statistical genetics or genomics
Proficiency in statistical programming (e.g., R, Python)
The ability to manage large datasets
Experience with biobanks such as the UK Biobank and All of Us, or public datasets such as TCGA
A collaborative mindset and good communication skills
