Duties and Responsibilities
The Department of Biostatistics at the Yale School of Public Health (YSPH), Yale University, invites applications for a full-time postdoctoral associate position. The successful candidate will conduct Stat/AI research by bridging statistical methodology with modern AI methods to address complex biomedical and public health questions.
This position emphasizes developing and applying advanced statistical or statistically principled AI for large-scale, multi-source, multi-dimensional datasets from in-house studies and landmark databases/biobanks, with attention to reproducibility, uncertainty quantification/calibration, robustness and generalization under dataset shift, interpretability, and responsible use. We particularly focus on real-world applications in psychiatry, mental health, aging, and related fields, including work with real-world data such as EHR (structured and clinical text), and potentially imaging and genetics.
The postdoctoral associate will work under the mentorship of Dr. Yize Zhao and may collaborate with investigators at the Yale School of Medicine and other institutions. We seek candidates with strong analytical, computational, and communication skills. Experience in EHR/clinical NLP, LLMs, medical imaging, genetics, or large-scale computing is preferred.
Position Qualifications
The quantified candidates should have or be about to have a doctoral degree in statistics, biostatistics, medical informatics, bioengineering, or a related area, and be able to start this position in the fall of 2026 at the latest.
Salary RangeThe salary will be based on the NIH postdoctoral research salary scale.
