The Department of Biostatistics at the Bloomberg School of Public Health, Johns Hopkins University, is seeking highly motivated candidates for postdoctoral positions to conduct research on the causes of autism through the development and application of advanced statistical, computational, and machine-learning methods for statistical genetics and genomics. Successful candidates will work under the mentorship of Dr. Nilanjan Chatterjee, Bloomberg Distinguished Professor, and with scientific collaborators across the Departments of Mental Health and Epidemiology. Research will involve extensive data analysis from multiple large studies collected using population- and family-based designs, including the Genes and Environment Autism Research Study (GEARS) and the Simons Foundation Powering Autism Research for Knowledge (SPARK). We are seeking outstanding candidates with strong foundations in statistics, computation, and applied genomic data science.

The Department of Biostatistics at Johns Hopkins University is internationally recognized as a leader in the development of statistical and computational methods for biomedical research. With over 30 full-time faculty and a thriving research community, the department plays a central role in advancing public health and clinical science through methodological innovation and deep interdisciplinary collaboration. The faculty have strong collaborative ties and academic affiliations with other preeminent departments and centers, including Epidemiology, Mental Health, and the Wendy Klag Center for Autism and Developmental Disabilities at JHU, a center dedicated to improving policy and care for underlying conditions.

Duties and Responsibilities

• Lead innovative methodological and collaborative research in large-scale population- and family-based studies incorporating advanced genetic and genomic technologies.
• Engage in projects involving multi-omics data integration, polygenic risk score analysis, modeling of gene–environment interactions, and Mendelian randomization studies for causal inference.
• Contribute to studies on biomarker discovery, disease mechanisms, risk modeling, and prevention strategies for autism and related developmental disorders.

Position Qualifications

• Ph.D. in Statistics, Biostatistics, Computer Science, or a related quantitative field.
• Strong computational skills and the ability to manage large datasets.
• A collaborative mindset and commitment to impactful research.
• Strong communication skills.

Salary Range70-80K USD
