At Wharton, the Department of Statistics and Data Science participates in a wide range of university consortia that span the fields of computer science, finance, medicine, neuroscience, and public policy. Moreover, our faculty members have won singular international recognition for their contributions to many parts of statistical science including Bayesian analysis, game theory, high dimensional inference, information theory, machine learning, model selection, non-parametric function estimation, observational studies, probability theory, statistical algorithms, and time series analysis.

Duties and Responsibilities

The Department of Statistics and Data Science of the Wharton School, University of Pennsylvania, is seeking candidates for a full-time or part-time lecturer for the 2026-2027 academic year.

All teaching will take place on the University’s campus in Philadelphia, PA. The position will start in Fall 2026 with an initial appointment of one year with a possible extension of up to three years based on satisfactory performance.

Position Qualifications

Candidates are expected to have strong knowledge of statistics and data science. Further, as excellence in teaching is the primary criteria for this position, applicants must have outstanding communication skills, along with an interest in teaching statistics students. Applicants must have a degree from an accredited institution; a Ph.D. is preferred.
