The Centre for Genomic and Experimental Medicine (CGEM) uses genetics and genomics to understand the mechanisms of disease and improve disease prediction, prevention and prognosis. The Centre for Genomic and Experimental Medicine is part of the Institute of Genetics and Cancer (IGC). This partnership with MRC Human Genetics Unit and CRUK Edinburgh Centre aims to understand development and disease by using the latest developments in genetic, genomic, cellular and clinical science. The partnership provides access to state of the art scientific facilities, scientific infrastructure and business support, including on site Advanced Imaging Resource, Animal Model support, Bioinformatics Analysis Core, DNA sequencing, Flow Cytometry, Mass Spectrometry, HTPU microarray. The IGC also offers a highly collegial environment with excellent local career development support, active social, wellbeing and sustainability related groups making it a very desirable and supportive working environment.

Position Title: Post-Doctoral Research Associate in Health Data Science

Duties and Responsibilities: We are seeking a Postdoctoral Research Associate in Health Data Science to join our team in the Institute of Genetics and Cancer. In this role, you will develop and apply cutting-edge data science methodologies to complex biomedical data, focusing on patients with inflammatory bowel disease (IBD). You will work closely with our clinical and translational teams to develop predictive tools that can be implemented directly in clinical settings. This is a fixed-term position for 12 months, with the possibility of extension.

This post is full-time (35 hours per week); however, we are open to considering part-time or flexible working patterns.

Position Qualifications: – A PhD in statistics, machine learning, or a related field, or equivalent professional experience.
– Proficiency in R programming.
– Experience in managing and analysing research data.
– Ability to work independently and as part of a team.
– Strong communication skills, both oral and written.

Salary Range: £40,497 to £48,149
