Brigham and Women’s Hospital, Boston, MA – Postdoctoral Fellow in Causal Inference

Position Title: Postdoctoral Fellow in Causal Inference

Duties and Responsibilities: A post-doctoral fellowship position is open to work in the Drug U.S.E. Lab under the direction of Dr. Ayobami Akenroye. This will be in support of a current NIH-funded comparative effectiveness study (R01HL173055) that seeks to conduct multiple hypothetical emulated target trials to evaluate the comparative effectiveness of biologics in asthma. We will be using both administrative claims data (integrated and not integrated) and electronic health records data (EHR) to evaluate adaptive (dynamic) treatment strategies and the optimal sequence of biologics therapy in patients eligible for multiple therapies.

The ideal candidate will possess strong quantitative methodological and statistical skills and have experience in applied modern causal inference methods, including the development of innovative methodological approaches to estimate causal effects and modeling time-dependent confounding. In addition to estimating comparative effectiveness, we will examine effect heterogeneity and the intersections between socioeconomic adversity and outcomes in patients. Work will include applications of advanced statistical methods in public health and will involve collaboration with faculty in both the primary division
(Allergy/Immunology), collaborating division (Pharmacoepidemiology), and with faculty at th

· A doctoral degree in epidemiology, biostatistics, computer science, or a related quantitative field
Experience Requirements
· Research experience in causal inference
Technical Requirements
· Strong programming skills in R [Strong programming skills in other languages will also be considered]
Additional Qualifications
Preferred Experience and Skill Requirements
· Experience in the analysis of large health databases (e.g., administrative claims data, EHR data). Candidates with administrative claims data experience will be prioritized.
· Excellent written and verbal communication skills
· Highly organized with strong attention to detail and accuracy
· An ability to work collaboratively and independently
