Johns Hopkins University – Postdoc fellow

The department offers a vibrant and collaborative research environment, with a diverse group of faculty and students working on a wide range of topics, including epidemiology, genetic and other “omics” data analysis, clinical trials, and health services research. The department also offers a variety of training and educational opportunities, including a highly regarded PhD program and a Master of Public Health degree with a concentration in biostatistics.

Position Title: Postdoc fellow

Duties and Responsibilities: A postdoctoral position is currently available in our lab with Dr. Ni Zhao from the Department of Biostatistics at Johns Hopkins University. Successful candidates will have the opportunity to work on statistical methodological research and exciting collaborative projects with subject matter researchers and investigators within and outside Hopkins.

For statistical methodologies, our lab is interested in developing novel methods for high dimensional omics studies, focusing on metagenomics, multi-omics and spatial technologies to understand the underlying disease etiology. Our ongoing work includes understanding and addressing bias in microbiome association studies, integrative microbiome data analysis, spatial microbiome and proteomics modeling. The specific topics of interest for this postdoc position are:
● robust and powerful statistical methodologies for integrative analysis of microbiome and other datasets.
● statistical methods for spatial microbiome data analysis.

The position is expected for two years, with potential extension to the third year. Applications are accepted on a rolling basis until the position is filled

Position Qualifications: Successful candidate should hold a Ph.D. in statistics, biostatistics, epidemiology, bioinformatics, computer science or a related field by summer 2025, have strong knowledge in both statistical theory and application, and have strong work ethic. Research experience in “omics” studies is a plus, but not necessary.

Salary Range: 70,000+
