Position Title: POSTDOCTORAL FELLOW
Duties and Responsibilities: Dr. Boran Gao (Purdue University, Department of Statistics) is hiring a full-time postdoctoral fellow in statistical genetics and genomics (with immediate start availability). The postdoctoral fellow will be primarily affiliated with Purdue University's Department of Statistics and supervised by a collaborative mentoring team consists of Dr. Boran Gao (Purdue University, Department of Statistics) and Lulu Shang (MD Anderson Cancer Center). This joint mentoring structure offers outstanding opportunities for interdisciplinary collaboration, providing the candidate with access to diverse expertise and resources across leading institutions.
The successful candidate will join a dynamic and collaborative research team dedicated to developing cutting-edge AI, machine learning, and statistical methodologies for integrating multi-omics data to address critical biomedical questions. The position offers extensive professional development opportunities, including mentoring in scientific publishing, grant writing, career planning, and active participation in prestigious international conferences. The fellow is expected to lead and publish peer-reviewed manuscripts as the first author and will be actively encouraged to participate in professional conference.
This is a 2-year training position in Department of Statistics with possible extension subject to satisfactory performance and funding availability. The fellow will get opportunities to engage in interdisciplinary collaborations with researchers across the Department of Statistics, Department of Biological Science, and Department of Sociology at Purdue, as well as external collaborators.

Position Qualifications: Candidates should have (or be near completion of) a Ph.D. in statistics/biostatistics, computer science/engineering, computational biology/bioinformatics, or a closely related quantitative field. Preference will be given to candidates who can start soon.
Ideal candidates will have:
• Strong research interest in statistical genetics/genomics.
• Demonstrated capability to conduct independent statistical methodology research.
• A track record of publishing scientific research papers.
• Proficiency in scientific programming languages (e.g., R, Python, C/C++).
• Experience with data analytics of biobank data such as UK biobank and All of Us, Single cell data such as Onek1k, SRT data such as 10X Xenium.
• Strong communication and writing skills.
