Position Title: Postdoctoral Research Associate
Duties and Responsibilities: A postdoctoral fellow position is available in the Department of Biostatistics at The University of Texas MD Anderson Cancer Center for biostatistics methodology research in spatial analysis using Bayesian methodology.
The main focus is research and publication motivated by compelling biomedical applications in high-dimensional spatial imaging data such as neuroimaging and spatial transcriptomics. Such methodology may include tensor modeling, functional data analysis, Bayesian non-parametric methods, and spatially informed Bayesian deep learning. Along with developing methodology, the candidate is expected to derive related statistical theory, produce software for implementation, present in conferences, and build an efficient implementation based on Markov chain Monte Carlo (MCMC) or Variational Inference (VI). The post-doc will work under the supervision of Dr. Suprateek Kundu on challenging and important clinical and biological projects that involve complex statistical modeling, data analysis, and computation.
LEARNING OBJECTIVES
Learn one or more of the following- Bayesian tensor modeling, functional data analysis, Bayesian deep learning, deep Gaussian processes, and Variational Inference.
Develop strong programming and computational skills.
Gain interest in statistical methodology research.
Acquire extensive experience in R and R-Shiny.
Position Qualifications: ELIGIBILITY REQUIREMENTS
Applicants must have a recent PhD in biostatistics or statistics from a reputed University/Institute or within 0-1 year of graduation. At least one first-author publication in a peer-reviewed journal stemming from PhD studies is required. A solid background in statistical theory and Bayesian methods and computation is required. Some experience with machine learning and deep learning is desirable.
Salary Range: 70,000
