The Department of Public Health at the University of Rhode Island invites applications for a Tenure Track Assistant or Associate Professor in Public Health in Biostatistics or Epidemiology to begin in Fall 2025.
The University of Rhode Island Department of Public Health (https://web.uri.edu/public-health/) has a robust undergraduate program (over 300 undergraduate students) and will launch a new graduate program (Master of Public Health) in Fall 2025. Faculty are also able to work with Health Sciences doctoral students. The department is housed within the College of Health Sciences (https://web.uri.edu /chs), home to seven departments, 2,460 undergraduate students, and 264 graduate students.

Duties and Responsibilities:
The successful candidate is expected to:
1. Teach at the undergraduate and graduate levels.
2. Publish research relevant to biostatistics or public health research methods
3. Mentor and advise students at the graduate and undergraduate levels.
4. Seek and secure external funding that will support productive research.
5. Demonstrate a strong commitment to diversity and inclusion through research, teaching, and service activities.
Required:
1. Earned doctorate in Public Health or a closely related area (Biostatistics, Epidemiology, Psychology, Statistics, or other areas) conferred by September 1, 2025.
2. Demonstrated research experience in [health policy, biostatistics or methodologist, community based/participatory research] based on publications in high-impact, peer-reviewed journals. 3. Demonstrated ability to establish an independent line of research
4. Demonstrated teaching experience in public health with an emphasis in [health policy (biostatistics or methodologist, community-based research] at the undergraduate and/or graduate level. 5. Demonstrated experience working with diverse groups/populations (not limited to race, ethnicity, and gender).
6. Demonstrated excellence in oral communication skills.
7. Demonstrated excellence in written communication skills.
Preferred:
1. Demonstrated ability to secure external funding.
2. Demonstrated ability to participate in collaborative research.
3. Postdoctoral experience.
