CSTAT is a unit within the Office of Research and Innovation at MSU and has a proud tradition of collaborating with internationally renowned researchers. Duties and Responsibilities

The MSU Center for Statistical Training and Consulting (CSTAT) (https://cstat.msu.edu/) and the College of Human Medicine (https://humanmedicine.msu.edu ) invite applications for a Statistician with anticipated start date in Summer 2024. This is a joint appointment between CSTAT and the College of Human Medicine who seek to support research opportunities for medical students and research grants of CHM faculty. Candidates have a Ph.D. in Statistics, Biostatistics, or a related quantitative field by the start of the appointment.
We are looking for someone with experience in applied statistical methodology (for example health outcomes research or high dimensional data analysis), a strong interest in learning quickly on the job, and who is passionate about ongoing learning and keeping up with best practices.

You will
(1) collaborate with the College of Human Medicine and MSU faculty on grant proposals and publications;
(2) apply statistical, computational, and scientific expertise to the design, analysis, interpretation, and reporting across a range of research studies with MSU researchers and with external health care collaborators;
(3) mentor medical students and medical student teams on biostatistical design and analysis;
(4) participate in developing or delivering CSTAT workshops to the general University audience or to CHM students.

This is a continuing system appointment on a 12-month basis, subject to satisfactory progress and continued funding. Our team members choose to work in-person or have hybrid work arrangements (telecommuting within Michigan is permitted up to 3 days per week).

Position Qualifications

Doctorate - Statistics, Biostatistics, or a quantitative STEM field.

Minimum Qualifications
The job requires a Ph.D. in Statistics, Biostatistics, or a quantitative field; excellent programming skills in a statistical software, e.g. R or Python; a strong background in applied statistical methodology and research data management; or an equivalent combination of education and experience. Strong interpersonal skills and written and oral communication skills are essential.
