The National Institute of Environmental Health Sciences (NIEHS), located in Research Triangle Park, North Carolina, is one of 27 research institutes and centers that comprise the National Institutes of Health (NIH), U.S. Department of Health and Human Services (DHHS). The mission of the NIEHS is to discover how the environment affects people in order to promote healthier lives.

Duties and Responsibilities

The successful candidate will help develop methods to address problems in genetic, cancer, reproductive and/or environmental epidemiology. He/she will have the opportunity to work with data from a family-based study and large cohort projects. In methodologic work, we are interested in the use of genetic data to study epistasis and gene-by-environment interaction, in developing methods for estimating propensity for pregnancy complications, and approaches for studying etiologic heterogeneity. However, research topics are not limited to those, and candidates with different topics of interest are encouraged to apply

Position Qualifications

Candidates should have or be very close to obtaining a Ph.D. in biostatistics or epidemiology (with a strong interest in methods), or in a closely related area. Programming skill is required. Excellent communication skills and fluency in both spoken and written English are essential.
