The National Institute of Environmental Health Sciences (NIEHS), located in Research Triangle Park, North Carolina, is one of 27 research institutes and centers that comprise the National Institutes of Health (NIH), U.S. Department of Health and Human Services (DHHS). The mission of the NIEHS is to discover how the environment affects people in order to promote healthier lives.

Duties and Responsibilities

A postdoctoral position is available in the Biostatistics and Computational Biology Branch (BCBB) at the National Institute of Environmental Health Sciences, NIH. The successful candidate will have an opportunity to develop statistical methods in survival and longitudinal data and disease risk assessment/prediction, with high-dimensional exposure mixtures and exposome data. He/she will also have the opportunity to work with data from large cohorts and collaborative epidemiology projects. However, research topics are not limited to those mentioned above. Candidates with related interest are strongly encouraged to apply.

Position Qualifications

Candidates should have or be close to obtaining a Ph.D. in biostatistics, statistics or closely related areas. Prior experience in survival analysis and statistical inference is desirable. Experience in environmental science is an additional asset. Programming skill in R is required. Excellent communication skills and fluency in both spoken and written English are essential. Candidates may be U.S. citizens, resident aliens, or non-resident aliens with, or eligible to obtain, a valid employment-authorization visa.
