Biostatistical Consultant II, Cardiology

Duties and Responsibilities

The Department of Internal Medicine is seeking a Biostatistical Consultant II to join the division of Cardiology. As a valued team member, you will support Dr. Saket Girotra, a cardiologist and health services researcher. The qualified candidate will support ongoing and new research studies in cardiac arrest, coronary and peripheral vascular disease, heart failure and structural heart interventions. The research involves using clinical registries, administrative and electronic health record (EHR) data to answer new and emerging research questions in these fields. Our team has been successful with multiple grant fundings and nearly 200 publications, including top-tier journals (NEJM, JAMA, BMJ, and Circulation). This role will lead the statistical analyses on several funded research projects, including data curation, cleaning, transformation, and analysis. Given the nature of the projects, prior experience with generalized linear mixed models and survival analyses is a must, as is experience with using SAS, R and SQL Server. Candidates with prior experience with administrative databases such as Medicare and Veterans Affairs data will be given priority. Finally, the selected candidate will join a dynamic team that includes the principal investigator, co-investigators, clinical trainees, and a biostatistician. This position is eligible for hybrid work. Only in exceptional circumstances will a fully remote position be considered.

Position Qualifications

- Master’s degree in biostatistics or related discipline, or MPH with a concentration in biostatistics.
- Minimum three (3) years’ experience in statistical consulting with preference given to experience working in biomedical or health care environment.
- Requires working knowledge of SAS, SPSS or other major statistical package (S+, R, etc.) and Microsoft Office (ACCESS and EXCEL).
- Prefer candidates with knowledge of bioinformatics to perform RNA sq analysis.
