Duties and Responsibilities

The ideal candidate will actively engage in collaborative research with the Data Science Initiatives on campus, other cluster Chairs, and contribute to cross-disciplinary quantitative social science, demographic and geoanalytical research centers/programs at UCSB. The Chair will be expected to contribute to ongoing departmental and campus efforts to recruit and support students and scholars from underrepresented minority groups and first generation students. Responsibilities of faculty members include the development of an actively funded research program of the highest quality, teaching at undergraduate and graduate levels, recruitment, supervision, and mentorship of graduate students, and participation in department leadership, university service and professional activities.

Position Qualifications

QUALIFICATIONS
Basic qualifications (required at time of application)
Applicants must have a Ph.D. or equivalent in Statistics, Biostatistics, Geography, Computational Social Sciences, Applied Mathematics, Environmental Sciences, Economics, or related areas at the time of application
Preferred qualifications
An accomplished portfolio that provides evidence of Statistical/Data Science research to study the causes of, consequences of, and solutions to environmental inequities.
Demonstrated excellence in teaching and at least 5 years of teaching at the University level or related experience.
Evidence of leadership and collaboration skills applicable to building cross-disciplinary and cross-campus collaborations.
Demonstrated commitment to and action on supporting diversity, equity, inclusion, and justice in higher education.
Synergies with the Department and Campus research, teaching, and community collaborations in the pursuit of just and sustainable environmental solutions.
