Assistant Professor of Statistics

The Department of Mathematics and Computer Science offers majors in Computer Science, Computer Science with Healthcare Information Technology, Data Science, Mathematics, and Teaching Mathematics. We offer minors in Actuarial Science, Computer Science, Data Science, Mathematics, and Statistics. In the area of Statistics, we also teach a variety of courses that support majors in other academic areas, such as Biology and Psychology. We are a small, dynamic department, and as such, we offer the opportunity for faculty and students to explore trending areas, experiment with new pedagogy, and be creative in developing new classes and programs.

We invite applications for a full-time, tenure-track position in Statistics at the level of Assistant Professor in the Department of Mathematics and Computer Science, beginning August 2021. Full consideration will be given to candidates whose applications are completed by February 5, 2021, but applications will be accepted until the position is filled. We seek candidates who demonstrate a strong commitment to and potential for excellent teaching and fostering diversity and inclusion in a liberal arts setting. Candidates must have an active research program in Statistics, have the ability to contribute to curricular and program development in Statistics and Data Science, and will be committed to working closely with students and faculty from the College of Arts and Sciences and the Boler College of Business. We seek candidates whose research in Statistics invites contributions by undergraduate students, and who will contribute to curricular and program development in Statistics, Data Analytics, and Data Science at both the undergraduate and graduate level across the University.
With a load reduction for research, normal duties include nine hours of teaching per semester and continued scholarship, as well as other departmental and university professional responsibilities.
Candidates must hold a Ph.D. in Statistics or a closely related discipline, or expect completion of the Ph.D. by Fall 2021.
