Postdoctoral Research Fellow

A postdoctoral fellow in Public Health Sciences is being hired to enhance and strengthen the partnership between the Clemson University Department of Public Health Sciences and Health Sciences Center of Prisma Health. The postdoctoral fellow will be affiliated with both, and will benefit from both academic faculty mentors from Clemson University and clinical faculty mentors from Prisma Health. The model is designed to augment Clemson’s capacity in health-related research, support health science initiatives at Prisma Health, and develop public health scientists focused on healthcare institutions. Research activities will involve collaborating with Clemson University and Prisma Health faculty in order to increase grant submissions for extramural funding to organizations such as NIH and NSF, and to facilitate the submission of manuscripts to high impact journals in the field. This two-year full-time post-doctoral position is anticipated to proactively participate in all these research activities.
Areas of research that will be addressed during this postdoctoral fellowship include opioid epidemiology, healthcare delivery, clinical trials and public health research. The scope of responsibilities will include development of project narratives for grant submissions, development protocols for linking, managing and analyzing related or unrelated diverse database platforms, and manuscript preparations. Development of independent research areas is also desired.
Applicants must have an earned doctorate in Statistics, Biostatistics, Computer Science, Bioinformatics, or relevant areas. Sought-after qualifications are strong programming skills using SAS/R/Python/SQL and capability of linking multiple data sources for research purposes. The preferred experiences include works in clinical research and observational studies using clinical trial data or big data sets. Excellent oral, written and interpersonal skills are also strongly preferred.
