Company Information

The PennSIVE Center focuses on the extraction and modeling of complex phenotypes from high-dimensional biomedical imaging data. Our group consists of three faculty working with graduate students, postdoctoral fellows, and research staff. We collaborate extensively with leading clinical and neuroscience investigators at Penn and nationwide. The successful candidate will find themselves in a stimulating and supportive research environment.

Duties and Responsibilities

The Penn Statistics in Imaging and Visualization (PennSIVE) Center at the University of Pennsylvania Perelman School of Medicine is currently recruiting a postdoctoral fellow interested in developing statistical methods for the analysis of neuroimaging data.

The PennSIVE laboratory focuses on the extraction and modeling of complex phenotypes from high-dimensional biomedical imaging data. Our group consists of three faculty working with graduate students, postdoctoral fellows, and research staff. We collaborate extensively with leading clinical and neuroscience investigators at Penn and nationwide. The successful candidate will find themselves in a stimulating and supportive research environment.

This fellowship will involve the development of novel statistical techniques for the study of psychiatric (e.g., depression, anxiety) and neurological disease (e.g., multiple sclerosis, Alzheimer’s disease). The fellow will have the opportunity to collaborate with leading clinical investigators, access to unique datasets, and potential to work with multiple types of imaging modalities (e.g., structural and functional MRI). A variety of specific projects are possible, and will depend on the intersection of candidate strengths and interests with available opportunities. Responsibilities include manuscript preparation, conference presentations, and software development.

Position Qualifications

A doctoral degree in biostatistics or statistics and expertise in data science or applied statistics are required. Excellent publication history, strong statistical methods development experience, and exceptional programming skills are highly preferred. Prior experience with neuroimaging statistics would be helpful but is not required.
