Research Associate Biostatistician

Duties and Responsibilities

The NCI designated Hollings Cancer Center and the Department of Public Health Sciences (DPHS) at the Medical University of South Carolina invite applications for a Research Associate Biostatistician. This position is for a Biostatistician with research interests in clinical cancer research.

We are searching for a Research Associate Biostatistician who will work collaboratively with cancer researchers, across a spectrum of oncology projects. The successful candidate will have experience in data analysis, clinical trials, and/or grant writing. Expertise in R and SAS is required.
1. The position will involve highly collaborative interactions with Hollings Cancer Center faculty with an emphasis on joint grant proposals.
2. Develop statistical methodology for cancer research.
3. Design and analyze laboratory, clinical and epidemiologic studies.

Position Qualifications

A masters of science degree in biostatistics or statistics is required. Candidates should be able to work independently, have experience and ability in data analysis and statistical programming, and excellent oral and written communication skills. Prior experience in clinical or basic science research and with writing collaborative papers and funding proposals is highly desired. Will consider recent graduates with exceptional academic history. Fluency in either SAS or R is required, and experience with other statistical software (such as Stata or Winbugs) is desirable.
