The Division of Pulmonary Medicine currently has 18 full-time faculty members, including eleven pediatric pulmonology and sleep medicine physicians. The Division has an outstanding career development program for its dedicated research faculty, and a strong ACGME-accredited training program in pediatric pulmonology with 6 fellows, with joint conferences and research activities.

Duties and Responsibilities

PhD scientist for a full-time faculty position outside the tenure stream at the rank of Research Assistant Professor at the University of Pittsburgh School of Medicine

Position Qualifications

The applicant should have a PhD degree in Biostatistics with strong programming skills and at least 2 years of postdoctoral training in statistical genetics, a strong record of publications and a successful history of academic productivity and obtaining extramural funding during training. Also familiarity with large genome-wide association studies in respiratory diseases, multiple omics data analysis (e.g., SNPs, gene expression, DNA methylation), statistical method developments, such as in rare variant analysis and omics data analysis, and experience in grant writing. Programming experience in statistical program R and scripting languages such as Perl/Python on Unix/Linux systems is required. Knowledge of C/C++ is a strong plus. In addition, the candidate should have a record indicating strong potential for academic productivity and further extramural funding. The candidate will work on data analysis and methods development for omics studies of respiratory diseases in collaboration with multiple investigators.
