The Department of Statistics & Data Science at Carnegie Mellon University is world-renowned for its contributions to research on statistical theory, methods, and collaborative applied research. Current collaborative research by our faculty is helping to make fundamental advances in neuroscience, cosmology, networks, finance, genetics, public policy, high-dimensional inference, and theory and methods at the intersection of statistics and machine learning. Position Title: Teaching-track Professor
Duties and Responsibilities: Teaching faculty positions at Carnegie Mellon are unusual in the high level of both flexibility and possible career advancement they offer. This position emphasizes the Department’s educational mission (teaching, student advising, curriculum development, and supervising collaborative research projects) but also involves research and/or administrative activities. Teaching load is typically two classes per semester, but varies depending on the faculty member’s role in advising and curriculum design. Faculty are also encouraged to engage in research or other activities that contribute to the field or to society at large. This is a faculty position with a long-term career trajectory and substantial opportunities for professional development.
Position Qualifications: Ph.D. in statistics, biostatistics, machine learning or related area required.
